The flight into England went well, although upon arrival, I found that Vodafone had not properly activated roaming on my phone yet, which caused some hassles. I was meant to be picking Jackie up in Brighton but didn’t know where. I decided to start driving and finally about 15 minutes out of Brighton, I managed to get through using a calling card on a public phone. We then drove back up to London to meet Tom and Kyra at their hotel near Oxford Circus which was a good location. Me and Jackie went to have lunch with Deirdre, Domina and Daniella in Canary Wharf. I haven’t seen them for a few years so it was good to catch up. Jackie and I then met Tom and Kyra at Harrods and walked back to the hotel. We had room service for dinner, had a few drinks and then Dan (a friend from SB) and his girlfriend came round and we headed out to Covent Garden. It was fun for a while – went to a club where we danced on the bar, but everything closed early since it was Sunday. We met up will Will and Colm (2 other guys from SB) for a while and then headed back to our hotel for a few hours rest. I managed to sleep through till morning so hopefully I won’t get jet lagged.
Today I am up at the Spaldings house near Tewkesbury, where I will be for the next 2 days. I’ll put up some photos when I get to the Hocknells on Wednesday.

I’m now in transit in Singapore Airport taking advantage of the free internet. The flight was fine although the interactive video system (wiseman) was having issues, so no on demand movies
At least I got a pen as compensation. I did watch MI:3 though which was entertaining. I was disappointed though as there were a few movies I would have watched. Hopefully on the next leg. I assume the movie choice is the same on all flights so I suppose it’s good to pace myself since I’ll need some to watch on the way back too
I got a few hours sleep when I first got on the plane which was good since I could barely keep my eyes open after my hectic week. Finally some time to relax (albeit in an economy class seat) and get much needed shut eye. Luckily, thanks to Tom AJ, I am in an exit row for both flights today despite the flight being full. I also got to skip the rather long queue at check in. Don’t worry, Tom, I won’t forget to bring back a carton of cigarettes for you.
Not long until I have to go and board. I’m really excited. I have a busy first day planned. I’m getting a car at the airport, and picking Jackie up in Brighton. I land at 6am so am not really in a rush. I am staying with Tom P in London, and having a night out to catch up with people although I don’t know my exact plans yet, or even where Tom is staying. I’m also having lunch with Deirdre and hopefully some of the Ball girls at Canary Wharf.
Anyway, I will write more soon when I get a chance.

ps. I’m sure the Rubix Cube party is well underway. I hope you’re all having a great time and having a few drinks for me. Wish I could have been there.

Well, it’s finally here – my last day at work. I’m busy tidying up my desk and handing everything I’ve worked on over to other people. Looking back, the past 6 months at Alcatel have flown by – it didn’t really seem any longer than my previous 10 week placements. I’m going to miss the soccer games and exercise classes at lunch time as well as Maggie’s Thai every Friday. I’ll have to see if VeCommerce have something similar, although I doubt it since they are a small company.
So, tomorrow I’m off to England for 4 weeks. I can’t wait. I’m looking forward to catching up with everyone, and especially seeing Jackie. Tom – if you read this, get your arse in gear and give me a call about Sunday night! (from Captain Contiki
) I’m looking forward to the flight because it is going to be my first chance for a good sleep in a few days. This past week has been a little crazy since it’s my last week at work, my last week in Sydney (although I’m not gone long), first week of session at uni, and it was Louis’ birthday on Monday (Happy Birthday again). This has all resulted in a taxing schedule – I’ve been out Saturday,Sunday,Wednesday, Thursday and I’m going out tonight.
It’s been a fun week though. Saturday and Sunday nights were in the Cross (some photos at NightCATS.org in the ‘Mr Miaow’s birthday bash’ album). Wednesday was at the Coogee Palace for a pyjama party and free beer (photos soon hopefully!). Last night was at unibar for a ‘prom night’ themed party, and tonight is going to be a night out in the city with free entry to a couple of places courtesy of NightCATS.
Anyway, that’s my rambling done. I should get back to tidying my desk up. I’ll be writing again soon from England, and I’ll put up some photos as soon as I can

As I’m about to head off on another holiday, this time to England for a little over 3 weeks, I thought I would take the opportunity to start off a new blog. I’ll try to keep it updated frequently with news of what I’m up to, as well as posting photos.
Enjoy it!
