Hoorrraayyy for Holidays1
It’s been a while since our last post and since Ben’s return we’ve been busy with uni assesments, Ben with his thesis (which is due on tuesday!
), and of course our ever so important social calendar! The Sydney Uni and UNSW ski teams joined together for a fabulous HarboUr cruise, we held a classic American Halloween party in our haunted house, and even went wakeboarding on the Hawkesbury.
The $30 for the harbo(U)r cruise included all you can drink beer and wine and all you can eat pizza whilst spending 4 hours touring around Sydney Harbo(u)r. Three different ski teams were there (Syd Uni, UNSW, and Club Mac) and four hours of dancing with the people we met on Uni Games were over before we knew it. It was wonderful to see the city lights from the water.
Our Superhero and Supervillian Halloween party was a complete success…even if we had it early. We playfully called it our Dyslexic Halloween (it was on the 13th not 31st!) We went all out with decorations and I even found fake ghosts and cob webs to put up! Tons of people came, including lots of my uni friends, and danced the night away although the floor wasn’t looking its best in the morning…and neither was Ben with his black hair and mascara! I cooked a feast in the morning for our guests…some people didn’t make it home…and we recovered at Balmoral Beach in the gorgeous Australian sunshine.
Last weekend we drove an hour northwest to the Hawkesbury River to wakeboard with Ben’s Uni team for the weekend. Our roommate Rory came along as well as 15 other people. There are cabins on the river where we stayed Saturday night. The weather was hot and the water was cool – the recipe for some serious stacks and big air (have a look at the photos and the video of my prowess on the water!). Ben was quite the little daredevil tying 540’s all day and flying through the air like a pro and we couldn’t get Rory off the wakeskate! We made some great new friends and spent some quality time with Rory. By the end of the weekend we were tired and sore, but had an amazing time.
I finished my very last class today and have a total of 10,500 words to write for assesments before my family’s arrival on the 16th of November. I can’t wait to show them around my home and snorkel the Whitsundays with them. Ben will be joining us…even though it is right in the middle of his exam time! Hope all is well at home and stay in touch.
Love,
Jackie and Ben
